You need an auctioneer to help with downsizing, settling an estate, selling cars at your auto auction, or working your weekly livestock auction … we would hold there’s no better choice than hiring a
National Auctioneers Association (NAA) member.
NAA members are exposed to the preeminent auction-related education opportunities available anywhere. By attending even one class or seminar, members receive the equivalent of years of trial-and-error experience.
Further, networking opportunities with other auctioneers are unmatched within the NAA. The NAA’s annual Conference & Show is the place to be each year for education and social interaction.
The NAA’s Certified Auctioneer Institute is the unrivaled premier auction education experience held at Indiana University each March. Attendees submerge themselves in a 3-year program with intense study of the auction industry.
NAA’s Designation Academy is held each December in Las Vegas, Nevada with a variety of specialty education opportunities. Other focused seminars are held throughout the year at various locations.
NAA maintains opinion papers, iSeries webinars, Microlearning videos and various recordings of past Conference & Show and IAC contest media. The NAA headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas houses an auction industry museum.
Additionally, NAA member auctioneers subscribe to the National Auctioneers Association Code of Ethics outlining duties owed clients and customers, the public and the profession.
NAA advocates for the auction industry by sending representatives to meet with U.S. Congress members and staff, helping them realize the value of auction marketing. NAA also keeps an eye on legislation and court cases affecting the auction industry.
NAA also produces content for elementary and middle schools such as auction games and related. NAA and their members are big supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The NAA adopted St. Jude as its national philanthropy in 1995, as we wrote about here: https://mikebrandlyauctioneer.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/naa-st-jude-childrens-research-hospital/.
In 2013, we wrote that while membership in the National Auctioneers Association (and state associations) is important, it’s also important for auctioneers to give back (pay it forward) to future generations of auctioneers: https://mikebrandlyauctioneer.wordpress.com/2013/11/22/auctioneers-ask-not-what-your-association-can-do-for-you/.
I’ve been a member of the National Auctioneers Association since April 21, 1986, and it remains the best decision I’ve personally made to enhance my skill-set and succeed in the auction profession.
