Today we take a closer look at the
National Auctioneers Association (NAA) Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) Designation Class. As the NAA advertises:
AARE is NAA’s premier Real Estate designation. The three day class takes attendees through conducting a real estate auction from prospecting to closing after the auction (and explores opportunities if a property doesn’t sell). Along the way, the class explores finance, marketing, proposals, sales, legal aspects of real estate, and working with traditional brokers and banks, among other topics. AARE is designed so that anyone can get benefit, but it’s particularly accessible for two groups: Auctioneers who are looking to move into real estate and real estate professionals with no auction experience.
I have the honor of being a faculty member at the Designation Academy and one of three instructors within the AARE program along with Manson Slik and Braden McCurdy.
In 2018, less than 5% of all real estate (real property) sales in the United States were the result of an auction. There is tremendous potential for this market segment to grow and with the proper education and experience, auctioneers will be ready to take leverage this vast marketplace.
Further, networking with other auctioneers is another way attendees can explore other markets and secure further work. Not only does this class contain (primarily) real estate auctioneers, but the Designation Academy is also flush with other auctioneers and industry leaders.
This same AARE class is as well periodically offered at the National Auctioneers Association annual Conference and Show where upwards of 1,000 auction professionals gather each year providing no better way to network.
The AARE class is not only for auctioneers. Anyone involved in real estate who is interested in the auction method of marketing can benefit from this class. Here’s a class photograph from December 10, 2015 including instructors Mike Brandly (me) and Manson Slik.
